Why hypnotherapy?

What has hypnotherapy or hypnosis got to do with working from home?

Well, it's all about performance and making the most of what we have.
I first made the connection through my sport -- running.
I wanted to explore why it was that sometimes I ran well and sometimes I didn't.

By well, I mean easily, like there was no real effort required. Like running 80 miles in a day and finding the finish line came to soon. Compared to the difficulty of stepping out of the door for a 3 mile jog, or feeling absolutely exhausted midway through a 10k race and wanting to give up.

It's not about fitness, or tiredness, or any other physical state. No, it is purely a mental state, or temperament. Often, these shifts in mental state are barely noticeable, yet they can influence performance in a quite dramatic way.

I wanted to learn more. I wanted to learn how and why our mental state affects our physical state to such a great degree, and I wanted to learn how to harness and control those mental states.
So I studied sports psychology, and then NLP, and then coaching. And, as I studied, I realised that what I was learning and discovering could (and should) be applied to all sorts of human performance.

So where does the hypnosis come in? It is a bit like learning how a car works. Once you get to understand what does what, you want to start tinkering -- improving. Hypnosis offers a direct route to the thing that makes us work (or not) -- our consciousness or more specifically, our subconscious. If we possess a system that keeps us breathing, keeps our heart beating, attacks disease, makes us laugh or cry, without our effort or control then shouldn't we be making the most of it?
That's what hypnosis can do, with a little help and effort, it can help to make a chosen behaviour instinctive.

So, if we want to get up in the morning and work on a project (even when there's nobody around to check up on us), rather than surf the web, or eat cakes, or watch TV, then we can.
And if we want to make the most of our short time on this planet, by getting the very most of what our lives can offer, then we can do that too -- all it takes is a point in the right direction and then a bit of effort.
